This life is one that is filled with many challenges - some hard and some not so hard. As humans we all exist simultaneously, yet our paths, our experiences, and how they shape and form us are all unique. No two human lives are alike. We may experience some things similarly, but how we interpret them and deal with them are completely different.

Because of this, art and fashion has become my love language. It is the way that I can express myself without having to verbally voice my pain, my struggles, and my triumphs and happy times. You are able to use colors, shapes, and other forms of expression that convey your story, your feelings, and emotions to the world.

Mizan is my broadcast to the universe- the platform that I use to convey my message to the world. I get to tell my story unfiltered. I get to share information that has helped me and guided me out of the dark recesses that I dwelled in for a long time.

That darkness is a place that we are trying to lead people away from and out of. our aim is to wake up the sleeping and bring consciousness to the unconscious.

When I began my journey of waking up out of the deep slumber that I was in, I was around 20 or 21 and serving time in a maximum security prison, surrounded by all types of characters- from angles to demons. My escape began with a book- The Autobiography of Malcom X. His story taught me that a man with power and resilience can change for the better. My search for self did begin with the search for a Supreme Being. As the scholars say- He who knows himself knows his Lord.

To put this in simple terms- one must look honestly within in order to understand who his Lord is. That which rules you is your Lord. So if you are ruled by desires and emotions then you are a slave to them.

Everything great in you is an attribute of your Lord but to the highest degree. That which is evil within you is not from your Lord- it is your will. You must become lord over those flaws and defeat them.

The pursuit of perfection is the journey of every man who belongs to the world of Mizan. Mizan is the Arabic word for scale or balance, and it is the pursuit of setting one's balance in his favor with justice and truth. This is a journey that is never ending- only when one is called to return to his true home.
